Hong Kong, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Invest Hong Kong officially announced on May 10 that its Director General, Ms. Lau Kai-suan, will soon depart for a working visit to Istanbul, Turkey, Budapest, Hungary and Cairo, Egypt. The visit aims to deepen the economic ties between Hong Kong and the three countries, and to promote Hong Kong as an ideal gateway for enterprises from these countries to expand into the Chinese mainland and Asia-Pacific markets. It is worth noting that Juwei Group will participate in and accompany the visit throughout the entire process to jointly explore new opportunities for cooperation under the "Belt and Road" initiative.
Liu Kaixuan, Director General of Invest Hong Kong, will pay an official visit to Turkey, Hungary and Egypt. The core purpose of this visit is to strengthen economic cooperation and exchanges between Hong Kong and these three important countries in Europe, Asia and Africa, and actively promote Hong Kong's unique strategic position and business advantages in connecting mainland China with the Asia-Pacific market. Juwei Group, as an enterprise with significant influence in the international economic and trade field, will accompany Director Liu Kaixuan throughout the visit, demonstrating its active role in promoting international trade and cooperation. Key figures include Liu Kaixuan, Director General of Invest Hong Kong, and Mr. Tan Bin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Juwei Group (who is also the Chairman of the Chinese Union of Europe, Asia and Africa, Chairman of the Vancouver Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and Executive Chairman of the Turkish Chinese Chamber of Commerce).
The overseas visit plan was announced by Invest Hong Kong on May 10, 2025. Although the specific date of the visit was not detailed in the announcement, it is expected to be launched soon after the announcement.
The destinations of Director Liu Kaixuan's visit include important cities in three key countries in Europe, Asia and Africa: Istanbul in Turkey, Budapest in Hungary and Cairo in Egypt. These cities are not only the economic and cultural centers of their respective countries, but also important hubs connecting regional markets.
The main reasons and purposes of this visit are:
1. Strengthen economic ties: Deepen economic and trade exchanges and investment cooperation between Hong Kong and Turkey, Hungary and Egypt.
2. Promote Hong Kong's role as a gateway: Emphasize Hong Kong's unique advantages as an international financial center and Asian business hub, and attract local companies to expand into the Chinese mainland, ASEAN and even the wider Asia-Pacific market through Hong Kong.
3. Respond to the "Belt and Road" initiative: Under the framework of the "Belt and Road", seek cooperation opportunities with countries along the route, especially promote projects such as Juwei China Building Materials City, promote Chinese products to the international market, and help increase domestic exports.
4. Demonstrate cooperation potential: Director Liu Kaixuan said he looks forward to deepening mutual cooperation and showing how Hong Kong can help companies in these countries expand their regional business. At the same time, he hopes to establish Juwei Group as a bridge between the Hong Kong government of China and international trade in Europe, Asia and Africa to promote important decisions and pilot projects.
5. Take advantage of Hong Kong's existing advantages: Take advantage of the opportunities of the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the free trade agreement signed between Hong Kong and ASEAN to provide convenient conditions for companies from visiting countries to enter the Chinese mainland and Asia-Pacific markets.
The visit will be conducted in the following ways:
1. High-level meetings and exchanges: Director Liu Kaixuan will hold talks and exchanges with local government officials, business leaders and entrepreneurs to introduce Hong Kong's business environment, investment opportunities and policy support.
2. Field visits and project docking: According to the call between Director Liu Kaixuan and Chairman Tan Bin, the itinerary plans to visit the Turkey Juwei China Building Materials City accompanied by the Turkish Chinese Chamber of Commerce. The building materials city covers an area of 500 acres and has a planned construction area of 300,000 square meters. The goal is to build a distribution center for Chinese building materials in Europe, Asia and Africa. It is expected to significantly increase domestic export throughput between 2025 and 2028, and is expected to exceed 200 trillion yuan.
3. Promote Hong Kong's advantages: Focus on introducing Hong Kong's superior business environment, free flow of capital policies, and a strong technological innovation ecosystem that brings together nearly 10,000 overseas and mainland companies and about 4,700 start-ups, so as to attract companies to settle in Hong Kong and promote innovation and growth.
4. The role of Juwei Group: Juwei Group’s participation is not only reflected in accompanying the visit, but also in its role as a bridge connecting Hong Kong, China with the European, Asian and African markets, promoting the implementation and development of specific projects such as Juwei China Building Materials City, and using its local resources and influence to assist InvestHK in achieving its visit objectives.
This visit is seen as an important move by the Hong Kong SAR government to actively expand international economic and trade cooperation and consolidate its position as an international trade center. It also provides a new platform and opportunity for companies such as Juwei Group to deepen international cooperation under the background of the "Belt and Road" initiative. (End)
